As part of a luxurious condominium called “The Reef”, a floating swimming pool sit within the site of King’s Dock. The floating deck of 180m long houses 3 different pools retained in position from drifting however allow it to float with the tidal change. This landmark project marks the one-of-a-kind floating swimming pool and first concrete floating structure in Singapore.
Delta Marine Consultants Singapore was engaged by the Keppel Land to provide the concept design of the floating pool. Our role in this study is to provide feasible concept solutions as well as to provide the performance specifications for a floating structure to achieve a stable and durable design with less maintenance effort required in long term as well as to safe and comfortable for the swimming pool users. Engineering consultancy services provided including the stability analysis, concept design of the floating structure, hydrodynamic analysis using Ansys Aqwa software, metocean study, wave penetration and flushing study using Mike 21.
During construction stage which is currently on-going, we provide QAQC review and supervision, to ensure the construction is executed in good quality control to safeguard the performance especially the watertightness and durability is utmost important for a concrete floating structure.
